The Organization
Community Living Algoma (CLA) is a non-profit organization that has supported people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism across the District of Algoma for more than 70 years.
We support over 800 people with a dedicated team of approximately 340 staff. Our mission is to ensure that all people are recognized as full citizens, achieve personal dignity, enjoy the rights and responsibilities of independence, and are supported to reach their full potential.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services and/or Manager of Finance, the Finance Coordinator is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organization through accounting, reporting, reconciliation, budgeting, payroll support, and administration of Passport funding.
This position plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, supporting internal and external reporting requirements, and providing guidance to individuals, families, staff, and managers regarding Passport funding and financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain financial records, reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end processes.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and financial reporting activities.
- Monitor and administer Passport funding, including reimbursements, purchases, invoicing, payroll allocations, and funding balances.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with MCCSS funding guidelines and agency policies.
- Communicate with individuals, families, staff, vendors, funding agencies, and community partners regarding financial and Passport-related matters.
- Assist with payroll-related reconciliations and reporting.
- Prepare reports and analysis to support decision-making and operational planning.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, including financial systems, reporting tools, and organizational projects.
- Support implementation of new initiatives including Dayforce, Passport modernization, and Journey to Belonging activities.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, or financial administration experience.
- Experience in a not-for-profit, social services, healthcare, or government-funded environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Sage, Dayforce, Passport funding administration, or similar financial systems is considered an asset.
